The Benefits of Embracing Change
An unknown commentator once said: “If you don’t create change, change will create you.”
There are numerous words which can denote change – transition, growth, downsize, upscale, mergers, recruitment, relocation, review, and improve just to name a few.
Whatever the case, change is always hard.
Whether in your personal or professional life, change advocates a departure from the familiar to strange and untested waters.
This can be scary as it evokes a feeling of vulnerability – moving to a place you’re not in control of, or an outcome you’re reluctant to venture into.
However, to progress, there needs to be an element of change in your current situation.
The results of the change will largely depend on your understanding of the process, accepting it, planning it and flowing with it – thus yielding to a growth and positive effect in your favour.

When you finally come to terms with the idea of change, your next step is to determine whether you’ll actually do what it takes to effect the change and obtain the results you desire, or whether you’re content to stay where you are – in a safe, yet stagnant, environment.
So, what are the key benefits of embracing change?
Here are some of my thoughts:
Personal growth – whenever things change, you grow and learn new things - discovering new insights about different aspects of your life.
Flexibility - frequent changes make you easily adapt to new situations, new environments, and new people. As a result, you don’t ‘freak out’ when something unexpectedly shifts.
Life improvements – nothing will improve by itself. You need to do things differently for that to happen. Without embracing change, there’ll be no improvements.
Life values - changes occasionally make you re-evaluate your life and look at certain things from a different perspective. Depending on what the change is, it may also reinforce your life values.
Strength – Not all changes lead to pleasant phases of your life. However, overcoming these tough periods will make you stronger.
Progress – changes trigger progress – things move forward and develop because of them.
Opportunities – changes bring new choices for happiness and fulfilment.
New beginnings – each change is a turning page, closing one chapter and opening another one. Changes bring new beginnings and excitement to life.
