The Importance of AI Human Augmentation

So far in this latest series of blogs I’ve explained the concept of AI human augmentation and given some hopefully useful tips on how to develop AI human augmentation within your organisation

Human augmentation in AI refers to the use of artificial intelligence to enhance human capabilities, rather than replace them.

It's about leveraging AI to improve human performance, health, or quality of life by assisting, supporting, and extending human abilities.

Key considerations in developing AI human augmentation in your workplace include always considering AI and understand its capabilities which might not always be obvious; be ‘the human in the link’ and always stay ahead of the curve by actively engaging with AI systems to learn their capabilities; and treat AI like a “person” - working with AI becomes more intuitive when you think of it as an alien person rather than a machine. Although please do remember that AI is so far removed from being an actual person!

I now want to consider the importance of AI human augmentation.

Overall, the importance of AI human augmentation lays in its potential to enhance human capabilities and improve various aspects of life and work.

AI-powered tools are used to augment human skills, boost productivity, and enable new forms of interaction with technology, leading to greater efficiency and innovation.

This augmentation is not about replacing humans, but rather about combining human intelligence with AI's computational power to achieve better outcomes.

Other important factors of AI human augmentation are:

  • Increased productivity and efficiency - AI-powered tools help automate tasks, analyse data, and provide insights - allowing humans to focus on more complex and creative work.

  • Improved decision-making - AI systems can analyse vast amounts of data and identify patterns - helping humans make more informed and efficient decisions in various fields.

  • New skill acquisition - through interactions with intelligent machines, humans can learn new skills and adapt to changing job requirements, transforming their learning method.
